One of the most important things to consider with a Yorkshire terrier is their grooming needs. This needs to be taken care of all the time to keep them looking great.
Ideally you should be brushing your little pup each day. At the very least you should do it every other day. Don't be in a rush to complete this process though as you won't get the results you are after.
There are many brushes for these puppies out there that you can choose from. Get one that is a good fit in your hands. You also want to get one that you can brush all the way through their hair.
You want to be able to remove all the dead skin and loose hair. You want to stimulate the natural development of oils so that the coat will be very shiny.
Look for durable brushes for pups that are made from tight wire bristles. If you notice they are starting to wear then replace the brush.
If you don't it will become less effective over time even though you are spending enough time on this particular part of the grooming process.
Knowing how to groom a pup is all part of the process. You want to make sure you are spending your time doing it the right way. It is a type of pup art once you get it all down pat.
Make sure you can keep your little pup feeling relaxed during this process. That way you can both enjoy it and there won't be any anxiety involved.

You only need to bathe your Yorkshire terrier about once a month. Use a very mild baby soap or one your vet recommends. It is important that you remove all the soap off too. If it is left on the hair it can result in the skin becoming dry and irritated. For more information, you are invited to subscribe to our popular FREE Yorkshire Terrier newsletter report here.
